LED Lighting Retrofit

With more and more focus on energy savings and the benefits of LED lights, the department recently decided to join the movement. At our July monthly business meeting, the members of the Lower Swatara Volunteer Fire Department approved to have all interior and exterior light fixtures retrofitted and upgraded to LED lights. This project was headed by Trustee Brett Waple with the assistance of the finance committee. After some discussion, Lancaster based company A1 Energy Solutions was awarded the contract. This retrofit will reduce our electric consumption, reduce light maintenance, and improve visibility (inside and outside). To assist with some of the cost associated with the project, the Department will apply for an energy grant that could help us by providing up to 50% of the total cost of the retrofit.

The retrofit is planned to be completed by October. The members of the Department would like to give a big THANK YOU to Trustee Waple and the finance committee for the time and effort put in to make this project a reality! The photos provided are examples of the differences between the fluorescent and LED light fixtures. Stay tuned for additional photos and stories as this project gets underway!
