On Wednesday 1-18-17 at 00:15 hours, Company 59 was dispatched to the eastbound lanes of PA-283 between I-283 and the Airport Connector for a tractor trailer fire. Chief 59-1 went responding and Dauphin County Communications advised that they received only one call and that the truck was hauling wood pallets. As Engine 59-1 went responding, Chief 456(Chambers Hill Fire Co.) arrived, confirming a working fire. Chief 59-1 arrived and assumed command, requesting the additional Engine and Tanker from Co. 59 to be dispatched. Engine 59-1 arrived and stretched a 1-3/4" attack line, quickly knocking down the fire. Crews contained the fire to the tractor with no damage to the trailer. Tanker 59 also made the response and arrived to supply Engine 59-1. Control was marked and the fire units cleared the scene while Lower Swatara Fire Police and Police Department remained for traffic control until the tow company arrived.
