At around 0045 hours on 11-22-16, Station 59 was dispatched to a vehicle fire at the intersection of Oberlin Road and Powderhorn Road. Shortly after dispatch, Dauphin County Communications provided updated information that a vehicle had crashed into the woods and was fully involved. Engine 59 and Chief 59-1 went responding and was advised by Dauphin County Communications that a victim was in the area of Lamplight Circle. Two firefighters from Company 59 who live near the incident had located the victim and began searching for any other possible victims. Engine 59 arrived and started fire suppression. Chief 59-1 arrived and established Command, requesting another engine due to the wind spreading the fire in the wooded area as well as a replacement rescue to assist with lighting and searching for any other victims. Tanker 59 arrived and supplied Engine 59. Despite difficulty accessing the vehicle, the crew from Engine 59 was able to quickly extinguish the fire. EMS arrived and took over patient care and transported the victim. Rescue 88 arrived and provided lighting and assisted with searching for any other possible victims. After a brief search of the nearby areas, PD and EMS confirmed that there was only one patient involved. Crews remained on the scene until the vehicle was removed.
