While returning from the Penn State “We Are” event, Company 59 was alerted to a motor vehicle accident in the westbound lanes of Pennsylvania Route 283 prior to the ramp for the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Rescue 59 made the response within seconds after dispatch and was joined shortly after by Engine and Chief 59. Rescue 59 arrived to find
a two vehicle collision at the Lumber Street overpass resulting in one of the vehicles resting on top of the other. Fortunately, all occupants were out of both vehicles and no injuries were reported. Shortly after providing the update, Rescue 59 was advised of another accident about 300 yards past the scene of the dispatched incident. This incident was also reported as property damage only but one occupant was requesting to be evaluated by EMS. Engine 59 was diverted to the second accident while Rescue 59 set up traffic control and began controlling fluid leaks at the first accident. Chief 59 arrived, assuming Command and requested an additional ambulance be dispatched to handle the second accident.

Company 59 units remained on the scene for approximately one hour providing blocking for the incident as well as assisting Dailey's Gulf of Middletown with debris removal. All Company 59 units returned to service once the roadway was cleared and re-opened.
