On Saturday, August 4th, the Lower Swatara Volunteer Fire Department hosted a Foam Technician 1 Course. The class was presented by Cottrell Associates, who have over 30 years in the foam firefighting industry. The class was made possible by the South Central Task Force in an effort to provide further training to members of the Foam and Hazmat Groups. Lower Swatara personnel were joined by Firefighters and Hazmat Technicians from Dauphin, Lebanon, Lancaster, and Cumberland Counties. Attendees learned about different types of foam, their effectiveness on different types of fires, potential issues with different types of foam, application methods, and proportioning methods among various other topics. To conclude the session, personnel participated in a hands-on demonstration of proportioning foam using an in-line eductor and applying it with a Task Force Tips Pro-Pak, hand line, and Task Force Tips Blitzfire.

Thank you to Cottrell Associates and the South Central Task Force for making this class possible.

Thank you to Kevin Moul from Witmer Public Safety Group, Inc (TheFireStore) for providing lunch and donating pales of National Foam Universal F3 Green to be used in the hands-on demonstration.
