By Lower Swatara Vol. Fire Dept.
November 2, 2017

We've all noticed the days getting shorter, but daylight savings officially ends this Sunday, November 5th. The Lower Swatara Volunteer Fire Department would like to remind everyone that as you move your clocks back an hour, to also change the batteries in you smoke and/or carbon monoxide alarms. These detectors save lives, but only if they are working properly!

As a reminder, any detector that is greater than 10 years old should be replaced. This is to ensure that the internal sensors are capable of properly detecting an alarm condition. The date of manufacture can be found on the back of the detector (see image below). If you have any questions or need help determining whether or not your detector needs replaced, feel free to contact us and we'll be happy to help!
