On Saturday 5-6-17, Engine 59-1, Utility 59-1, and the foam trailer participated in a Regional Foam Task a Force Drill at Gulf Oil's Paxton Street Terminal. The drill was part of the larger Wide Vigilance VI exercises under PEMA. Participants received a walk-through of the facility, reviewed the equipment carried by each unit on the task force, and concluded by performing a fuel talk fire suppression scenario. Companies participating in the drill: Lafayette Fire Co. (Lancaster County), Carlisle Fire and Rescue (Cumberland County), Hershey Fire Department, East Pennsboro Fire Company (Cumberland County), Lancaster City Fire Department (Lancaster County), Dauphin County Hazmat Team, Lancaster County Hazmat Team. Lower Swatara is new to the task force and enjoyed the opportunity to train with the existing members. We look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.

While crews were participating in the drill, Rescue 59 was dispatched to Steelton Borough for a 1st alarm structure fire. Chief 50 arrived on the scene of a 3 story duplex with fire showing from the 3rd floor windows. Rescue 59 arrived and reported to the command post for an assignment. Rescue 59 was assigned to the 3rd floor of the fire building to finish overhaul. Rescue 59 remained on the scene assisting crews until the event was cleared by Chief 50.
