On Friday 1-13-17 at 16:15 hours Company 59 and Rescue 88 (Middletown) were dispatched on the 59-1 box for an accident with entrapment at Route 230 and Meade Ave. Rescue 59 and Chief 59-1 went responding with reports of two vehicles involved and one of them overturned. Chief 59-1 arrived to find two vehicles upright with one patient in each vehicle and no entrapment. Rescue 59 arrived and assisted EMS with providing patient care, while Engine 59-1 arrived and secured the vehicles and controlled fluids. Due to no having entrapment, Rescue 88 was placed in service. Units remained on scene until the vehicles were towed then the box was placed in service.

Later that evening, at 18:15 hours, Company 59, Engine 49 (Swatara), Truck 88 (Middletown) and Rescue 44 (Lawnton) were dispatched on the 59-6 box for a reported mobile home fire with possible entrapment. Chief 59-1, Engine 59-1, and Engine 49 all went responding with Dauphin County Communications reporting no entrapment but the caller could see smoke and fire from the mobile home. Chief 59-1 and PD arrived with nothing found at the given address. Dauphin County Communications then updated the address which placed the call at the other end of the mobile home park. Dauphin County Communications also reported that a firefighter from Company 41 (Bressler) was on scene and had the fire knocked down. Chief 59 and Engine 59-1 arrived at the corrected address with smoke showing and stretched an hand line to the front door. Engine 49 held at the entrance to the community to perform split lay if needed. Engine 59-1's crew investigated and confirmed that the fire was out and started checking for extension. With no water supply needed, Engine 49 was directed to the scene and sent their manpower forward. The remainder of the units held at the entrance. Finding no extension, crews secured the power to the oven and began ventilation. Crews cleared shortly after ventilation was completed.

This has been a busy week for accidents, primarily due to weather in the Capitol Region. Company 59 ran multiple accidents this week including 3 roll over accidents on Interstate 283 and PA 283. We remind everyone to slow down and use caution when the weather turns bad!
